Bridging the Gap: CXO-to-CEO Strategic Alignment
Industry: Construction & Infrastructure Development
The Client: Chief Operating Officer (COO) of a multi-national construction firm.
The Challenge: The COO was a master of logistics and engineering but consistently failed to get his large-scale modernization initiatives approved by the CEO and the Board. His presentations were overly technical, focused on “how” things worked rather than “why” they mattered financially. This led to a perceived lack of strategic alignment, and his ideas were frequently sidelined as “too expensive” or “too complex.”
The Intervention: A high-intensity Executive Influence & Boardroom Communication program. We focused on:
- Executive Summary Reform: Moving the “bottom line” to the first slide.
- The “CEO Lens”: Training the COO to frame technical upgrades in terms of Risk Mitigation and Asset Longevity rather than just operational efficiency.
- Visualization of Data: Replacing dense spreadsheets with high-impact “Traffic Light” reporting and trend forecasting.
The Result: * The COO successfully secured a $12M capital expenditure approval for a new sustainable machinery fleet on his first attempt post-coaching.
- The CEO noted a “significant shift in strategic maturity,” leading to the COO being given a permanent seat on the Global Strategy Committee.
